How to get to Mount Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is relatively easy to get to, as it has it’s own airport - Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA, ITIA:JRO), which is between the cities of Arusha and Moshi, both departure cities for our climbs.
For climbers from Australia, there are a few airlines that will get you there, via different routes.
These can change from time to time, and we recommend booking direct with an airline if possible.
Airlines flying from Australia to Kilimanjaro
Virgin Australia - code shares with Qatar
Qatar Airways - via Doha -> Addis Ababa -> Kilimanjaro
Ethiopian Airlines - via Abu Dhabi -> Addis Ababa -> Kilimanjaro
Emirates - via Dubai -> Nairobi -> Kilimanjaro
Etihad Airways - code shares via Ethiopian Airlines (see above)
Transfers to the Hotel
All our tours exclude your international flights but include a free transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel.
If you arrive via a different airport, you will need to organise your own transfers.
Other Considerations for Travel
Please consider your Visa requirements well in advance of your booking, including any visa requirements for transit countries.
Make sure you are up to date with vaccinations, including Yellow Fever. The Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory.
We recommend arriving a couple of days ahead of your climb. This allows for any unexpected delays and gives you an opportunity rest properly before the start of your climb.
