Fundraise for your own projects by Climbing Kilimanjaro!

Contents

Introduction

Add a fundraising goal to your climb to raise funds for your own Club Projects - typically International projects - but any are accepted.

Alternatively, partner with us and the Rotary Club of Albert Park (D9800) to help fundraise for ongoing renovations and re-establishment of the Kyebe Maternity Clinic, in rural Uganda.

Each climber is provided with a fundraising portal that can be used to help us reach both your and our own.

Energize Your Membership

By climbing Kilimanjaro, you bring together new and existing members in an exciting adventure, one that they will remember for a very long time!

A Kilimanjaro climb is also a great way to meet new members, and create exposure for your club in your local community.

Climbs are not limited to members, and we encourage clubs to promote their climbs in their community and social groups.

Reward Driven Fundraising

We all get inundated with requests for funding and support for our projects - typically with no reward or incentives to donors.

By supporting climbers on an activity such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, donors are see a tangible, real-life effort that is made by climbers to reach their goal - both the summit of Kilimanjaro and their fundraising goal.

Step 1 - Decide on your Project

Choose an existing project or a new project your Club would like to fundraise for. We have a wide range to choose from if you don’t have any, or you can bring your own.

You can also nominate multiple projects, so donors can select one or multiple to support that they relate to.

Step 2 - Contact us to setup your Fundraising Page

We’ll create a fundraising page for your projects, with the goals you set. This is dedicated to your Club.

Start a conversation with us about your project.

Step 3 - Put together your Climbing group

Form your group of climbers, and add them as participants for fundraising. This is a great way of including climbers outside of your Club - family, friends and the wider community - and creates a lot of interest in your Club and projects!

Step 4 - Share your Fundraising page

Your Climbing Group shares the fundraising page with their friends, families and colleagues, as early as possible before their actual climb.

People (hopefully!) donate to support your climbers!

We’ll also share your fundraising campaign on our socials and in our newsletter.

Step 5 - Climb Mount Kilimanjaro!

At the conclusion of your climb, we’ll transfer all monies raised to your nominated account, less any credit card and banking fees.

Simple!

Resources

We’ll provide you with a wide range of marketing material for your Club to help promote your climb and fundraising activities. This includes:

  • Club Presentation - our founder (who is a member of Rotary Club of Albert Park D9800) can provide an in-person (if you’re in D9800 or not too far away) or online presentation about the climb to your members.

  • Banner adverts for your website and emails

  • Posters (A4-A0) that can be printed for in-person events

  • Dedicated fundraising website for your Club

  • Email templates for your newsletter and marketing activities

Frequently Asked Questions

How it Works

What if we don’t have any International projects?

You can nominate any projects - not just International - or create new ones. Alternatively, you can nominate projects from another club, or one of our own projects!

However, fundraising must go towards specific projects, not just a Club directly, or even Foundation.

Can we get matching grants from Foundation or Rotary International for our fundraising?

Fundraising for a project via your Kilimanjaro climber group is no different to any other fundraising - it’s like a Bunnings BBQ but at 5,895m altitude! Depending on the rules and processes of your District, your fundraising should be eligible to contribute towards an application for a District or Global grant.

Do our Club members have to climb?

Not at all! Whilst we hope Club members will climb, we recognise that not all are able to, and many have busy lives. We encourage clubs to invite their friends, family and wider community to participate. This is a great way of marketing your Club, as well as reaching your fundraising goals.

How much do we need to raise?

The amount is entirely up to you! There is no minimum or maximum. However, we find that because a climb is a real event with tangible outcomes, fundraising is somewhat easier as donors see an actual outcome and can follow a climber’s progress.

What happens if we don’t meet our fundraising goals?

We’ll transfer all the monies you raise, irrespective of whether you reach your goals. There is no minimum amount.

What connection do we have to Rotary?

Our founders (Matthew and Stella) are active members of the Rotary Club of Albert Park (D9800). Stella has been a member and president of a number of clubs in Uganda before moving to Australia, and Matthew is a past president of RC Albert Park. He is the current International Services Director, and oversees a number of projects in Africa and beyond.
